Click the "Sign up" button and review the options - check-in, 3, 4, or 8-hour shifts, riding buses to and from the high school, and/or set-up and take-down. Pick one or more shifts. Contact us if you'd like to work in a specific area or work tandem with someone and you weren't able to do that online - swseniorparty@gmail.com.
Volunteers that enjoy tying skates are wanted! And bring a jacket or sweatshirt if you're working near that area. Other than that, no special skills are required.
Purple shirts are encouraged so students can easily identify volunteers. No need to be Southwest branded.
It's located 25 minutes from Southwest High School. If you'd like to carpool with anyone, contact us and we'll coordinate that. The specific address, volunteer coordinator's phone number, and final reminders will be emailed to you the week of the event.
An outdoor sign will mark the event entrance (it's the Theater entrance). Once inside, you'll be welcomed by our volunteer coordinator Sarah and she'll get you a name tag and go over anything important. You'll have a contact phone number for any questions or needs that might arise while you’re volunteering in case a staff member isn’t nearby. A committee volunteer will outline your specific duties which are really just to be helpful - know where the bathrooms and the food are located, let them know when food has arrived, and make sure seniors are making good choices. Then, be sure to grab any food and drink (coffee!) and walk to your area (via the map), and note the closest restrooms and exit doots. Chair committee members will check in with you during your time there and if you need a bathroom or food break and we're not around, text us so we can man your position while you're gone.
Seniors check in at the SWHS main entry at 10 PM and board school buses for the party venue. They arrive at the venue a little before 11 PM. Students are bussed back to SWHS, arriving at 5 AM.
We'd love to have you involved! Several committee members will be coming back next year but it will be their last year so we'd like to have co-chairs for those committees so newcomers can learn first hand what's involved. To see a list of available positions, please click on the "Contact" page and email us if you're interested. We meet once a month through spring and then it's bi-monthly. Most meetings take place online and are an hour long. Towards the event date, we meet in person. We're a pretty well-oiled machine so don't expect this to take up too much of your time!
